Grinding like I need to hit Lvl 99 (Week 3)

You know what, I think I did a good job of keeping my expectations more tame this week. I set out to work on data structures, algorithms, and database theory and for the most part I was able to hit each of those topics, and get in some extra stuff. 

As far my how my on-site interview with iHerb went, I think I did good, I was able to hit their programming question and system architecture questions while maintaining good composure.  Their response was a bit weird, in that they said they really liked me and wanted me to come in again. This could mean a couple things, one that they aren't sure if they want to hire me, or two they feel they haven't seen my ceiling, so they want to see what more I have in the tank.  Both are the exact opposite, so I'm hoping that I can figure that out tomorrow.  Either way I told them I could come in on Tuesday for a followup.

As far as things I want to do for this week, continue to work on programming questions, look into implementation of NoSQL databases, and review videos and provide summaries. If time permits I'd like to read the whitepaper on micro-services that Microsoft published.

C4 Model: Describing Software Architecture

The point behind a presentation of Visualizing Software Architecture , by Simon Brown, was that we need to standardize the way software developers communicate with each other in respect to our discussions of software architecture. As part of Simon's consultation, one exercise he gave to software architects was a simple task to white board the architecture of a software system. The results he received varied immensely, and there was never a defacto standard format that he received from this exercise. When inspecting the feedback from the participants, the general answer was that it was easy to come up with the design, but difficult to properly put their ideas onto paper, or white board in this case. Running RabbitMQ with Docker

Short post today, mostly just wanted to how to setup RabbitMQ for local development. Refer back to my previous post to learn more about RabbitMQ. Before starting my current job at iHerb, I would go straight for the Windows installation (my development environment) for all of my development tools needs. It was straight forward and "just worked" a lot of the time.
